Theme widgets can look polished and ship customizable upsell UIs quickly. The cost shows up later: script conflicts after theme updates, slower product pages, discount codes customers forget, and inventory that does not match what fulfillment ships.

• Your theme stays untouched when Shopify or your designer ships changes

When a script app still makes sense

If you need a heavily designed multi-step “build your own box” experience with custom storefront chrome, a UI-first builder may fit. If your job is reliable kits, GWP, and companion packs that raise AOV without theme debt, prefer Functions-native tools like Better Bundles.
