Getting started with Better Bundles

Install Better Bundles, understand how native-style bundles work, and get your store ready to sell its first bundle.

Welcome to Better Bundles! This guide explains how the app works and walks you through installation and initial setup. The short version: bundles are real Shopify products, discounts are applied by Shopify's own checkout infrastructure, and there is nothing to install on your storefront.

How Better Bundles works

Each bundle you create becomes a real product in your catalog, with its own product page, price, and URL. Customers add it to cart like any other product. At checkout, the bundle automatically expands into its real component products with your configured discount allocated across them — so orders, packing slips, and fulfillment always show actual SKUs.

Note: Because bundles are ordinary products, they work with every theme, appear in collections and search, and require zero theme edits, app blocks, or storefront scripts.

Install the app

  1. Open the Better Bundles listing on the Shopify App Store.
  2. Click Install and approve the requested permissions.
  3. You'll land in the Better Bundles dashboard inside your Shopify admin.

During installation the app automatically registers its two checkout functions with your store: a Cart Transform (which expands bundles into components) and a Discount Function (which handles order-level discounts). You can verify both are active under Settings → Checkout functions.

Configure your defaults

Head to Settings to set sensible defaults before creating your first bundle:

  • Default pricing style — how new bundles are priced (percentage off, amount off, fixed price, or item-based).
  • Discount application — whether discounts are applied to the products in the bundle or to the order at checkout.
  • Bundle product defaults — the theme template, product type, and tags applied to new bundle products.
  • Inventory locations — which locations count toward bundle availability.
Tip: Every default can be overridden per bundle, so don't overthink it — you can change any of these later without affecting existing bundles.
