Inventory sync & stock management
How bundle availability is computed from component stock, reserve buffers, inventory locations, and manual recalculation.
Last updated
Better Bundles never duplicates or invents stock. A bundle's available quantity is always computed from the real inventory of its components, so you can't oversell — even when a component is shared across multiple bundles.
How availability is calculated
For each component, the app checks how many bundles the current stock supports (component stock ÷ quantity needed per bundle). The bundle's availability is the minimum across all components. If a bundle needs 2 candles and 1 holder, and you have 10 candles and 3 holders, the bundle shows 3 available.
Automatic sync
Whenever component stock changes — a sale, a restock, a manual adjustment — Shopify notifies Better Bundles and the bundle's available quantity is recalculated automatically. No scheduled jobs, no drift.
Reserve buffer
Each bundle can hold back a reserve buffer: units subtracted from the sellable bundle quantity. If component stock allows 25 bundles and the buffer is 5, Shopify lists 20 available. Use this to protect standalone sales of popular components.
Inventory locations
By default, bundles count stock across the locations configured in Settings → Inventory. Individual bundles can override this and track a custom set of locations — useful if bundles only ship from your main warehouse.
Manual recalculation
You can force a recalculation at any time, in two places:
- From the bundle editor inside Better Bundles.
- Directly on the product or variant page in your Shopify admin — Better Bundles adds a “Recalculate inventory” action and an info block showing the bundle's components.
